Abstract 13 C‐labelled trans ‐cinnamic acid (3‐phenyl‐2‐propenoic acid) has been synthesized in one step using benzaldehyde‐carbonyl‐ 13 C and malonic acid‐2‐ 13 C in the presence of ammonium acetate under microwave irradiation and solvent‐free conditions.
