(CuStBu)4(PMe3)2 is synthesized as the first single-source precursor for monoclinic chalcocite (α-Cu2S). Phase-pure films of copper-rich chalcocite were grown by aerosol-assisted spray pyrolysis. The chemically pure films exhibit a very strong out-of-plane orientation on glass as a result of their composition of large micrometer-sized plates.
