The Fisheries Situationer Report of Philippine Statistics Authority (2017) reported that the total volume of production for fisheries decreased on the previous year. The decline is due to some areas which are affected by the sudden change of water quality that resulted in smaller sizes of harvests and causes fish kill. To sustain a good fish production, water quality must be monitored on a regular basis to ensure a sustainable good water quality and assess water quality to provide advice for the type of water treatment. Hence, this study designed and developed a real-time water quality monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) architecture. Assessment of water quality is also developed using fuzzy logic techniques. In fuzzy logic, Defining fuzzy sets, Knowledge-based rules design, inference process, and defuzzification were conducted. The results obtained in the design and development clearly suggests that with the proper selection of the microcontroller, appropriate instruments for the water parameters sensors, the water monitoring system can assess the aquaculture farmers in real-time water quality monitoring efficiently. The results obtained in the assessment of water quality clearly suggests that given the critical parameters for the water quality, proper membership function shape and overlapping in fuzzification, appropriate inference engine, fuzzy rules and defuzzification methods, a Fuzzy Logic is a viable assessment technique for the water quality.
