Performance of artificial viscosity and diffusivity methods stabilizes shock capturing in fluid simulations, indicating effective modeling approaches.
We evaluate the performance of two types of artificial viscosity and diffusivity methods, namely localized Laplacian artificial viscosity (LLAV) and localized artificial diffusivity (LAD), in the numerical framework of the Correction Procedure via Reconstruction method (CPR) method for several 1D and 2D benchmark transonic/supersonic flow simulations. Improved modeling procedures are proposed for the LLAV method. Both unsteady and steady problems are investigated. The resultsindicate that the artificial viscosity and diffusivity methods can efficiently stabilizeCPR for shock capturing with a wide range of grid sizes and polynomial orders.
