Inductively coupled plasma torches (ICPTs) are widely used tools in analytical spectroscopy. The deep understanding of the temperature field and flow pattern inside the discharge can be a useful tool for optimizing these devices. In this paper, a full 3-D model of an Ar ICPT has been applied to a commercial torch geometry. Temperature fields are shown together with a prediction of the pattern of the injected gas. Moreover, a prediction of the side view emission using volume rendering of the net emission coefficient has been presented.
