Of the patients who were treated surgically for an acetabular fracture (with a mean follow-up of six years), 15% underwent THA at a mean of 2.75 years postoperatively. Patients with a THA had a worse functional outcome than those who retain their native hip joint. We recommend using PROMS and CT scans when reviewing these patients.
