Why the study?
Does intraoperative assessment of tissue perfusion using PINPOINT prevent anastomotic leaks in patients undergoing laparoscopic left-sided/anterior colorectal resection?
Does intraoperative assessment of tissue perfusion using PINPOINT prevent anastomotic leaks in patients undergoing laparoscopic left-sided/anterior colorectal resection?
Intraoperative perfusion assessment with PINPOINT during colorectal resection is safe, feasible, and may prevent anastomotic leaks when used to guide anastomosis revision.
May support targeted revision using fluorescence angiography; leaves open whether routine perfusion assessment reduces leaks.
PINPOINT is a safe and feasible tool for intraoperative assessment of tissue perfusion during colorectal resection. There were no anastomotic leaks in patients in whom the anastomosis was revised based on inadequate perfusion with FA.
