Rounding up the reactants: Functionalized 1,2-oxazines can be obtained in high yield by a palladium-catalyzed asymmetric [3+3] cycloaddition of trimethylenemethane derivatives with nitrones. The use of a modified phosphoramidite ligand has led to the formation of these compounds with high stereoselectivity (see scheme, Cp=cyclopentadienyl).
