Dataset analyzes gender inequality dimensions across ASEAN countries, highlighting trends and implications.
This dataset contains annual Theil index decomposition (between‑gender, within‑gender, and overall) for five dimensions of gender inequality across 10 ASEAN countries from 1990 to 2023. The dimensions are: (1) Income (wage income), (2) Health (Healthy life expectancy at birth, HALE), (3) Education (mean years of schooling, adult population), (4) Political representation (share of parliamentary seats held by women), and (5) Time use (hours per day spent on unpaid domestic and care work). All Theil indices are calculated using the standard two‑group (female/male) decomposition with asymmetric population weights (actual female population shares from UN World Population Prospects 2022).
