Thermal decomposition behaviour of single and mixed blowing agents formulations based on azodicarbonamide (ADC) were investigated. It was shown that the addition of an auxiliary blowing agent 4,4'oxybisbenzenesulfonylhydrazide (OBSH) with decomposition behaviour complimentary to the main blowing agent (activated ADC) resulted in a system that assisted in adjusting the rate of gas released and the decomposition temperature range. It was found that by adjusting the levels of addition of OBSH and activator in the system, overall decomposition behaviour could be controlled to achieve gradual gas release in the process temperature range typical for the manufacture of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and polyethylene cross-linked foams
