Lycoperdon perlatum basidiospores were studied by use of freeze-etched replicas. Surfaces of these basidiospores were found to have "rodlet" patterns similar to those reported for Aspergillus and Penicillium conidiospores. Cross-fractured basidiospores also contained unidentified organelles previously reported for Tilletia teliospores.
