Two main processes account for heat conduction in glass. At low temperatures the major process corresponds to energy transfer via thermoelastic waves. The thermal conductivity resulting from this process is low as a result of strong scattering by the random structure. At high temperatures this conduction process is overshadowed by radiation heat‐transfer processes.
