Many social problems involve the geographic location of the social factors concerned. To know the characteristics of the areas in which these factors appear is to throw light on the entire situation. A statistical method for measuring the concentration of unit locations on a "spot map" is indicated. The symbolism has been kept parallel, as far as possible, to that used in the statistics of frequency distributions.
