With offshore wind power booming, harmonic resonance risks in offshore wind power systems (OWPSs) have increased. Harmonic resonance mode analysis (HRMA) is an important approach to analyze resonance problems, but its efficiency is limited due to extensive calculations of node admittance matrix (NAM) eigenvalues, especially in large systems like OWPSs. To address this issue, this paper proposed an improved HRMA based on impedance gathering. This method converts the analysis for the entire OWPSs into a collection of results for each wind farm (WF). To cope with WFs with various transmission scenarios, this paper also proposes a generic impedance method based on the transformation of the NAM. Case studies of a practical OWPS are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
