Why the study?
Does increasing experience of general radiologists improve observer agreement and accuracy in ultrasound detection of rotator cuff tears?
Does increasing experience of general radiologists improve observer agreement and accuracy in ultrasound detection of rotator cuff tears?
Ultrasound detection of rotator cuff tears has high accuracy and excellent observer agreement that is not heavily dependent on the operator's experience level.
Excellent agreement minimally dependent on experience supports general radiologist shoulder ultrasound; leaves open prospective multicenter validation.
The hypothesis that ultrasound of the shoulder is operator-dependent and related to experience was refuted. In this study, there was excellent agreement for the detection of rotator cuff tears, which only slightly improved with the increasing experience of the general radiologist. Accuracy of rotator cuff tear detection was high and in accordance with the results in the literature.
