Does percutaneous closure improve outcomes in high-risk patients with postinfarction ventricular septal defect?
Percutaneous closure of postinfarction VSD is a viable option for high-risk patients, offering good long-term outcomes for those who survive to discharge despite high initial mortality.
Percutaneous closure of postinfarction ventricular septal defect is a reasonably effective treatment for these extremely high-risk patients. Mortality remains high, but patients who survive to discharge do well in the longer term.
