Three trial trenches were excavated in an area of open ground where three houses are proposed to be built. No archaeologically significant features, artefacts or ecofacts were found in any of the trenches. Late post-medieval/early modern ceramics and building materials were present in small quantities in the topsoil, but nothing else was noted. Four features (two each in trenches 2 and 3) were largely amorphous, and all were shallow. They probably relate to an undated episode of land clearance.
