Research reports carbene-catalyzed synthesis of functionalized cyclopentenes, suggesting new pathways for complex molecules.
Herein, we report the first carbene‐catalyzed enantioselective synthesis of multi‐functionalized oxyacylated cyclopentenes through [3 + 2] cycloaddition of α‐functionalized vinyl ketones and enals. The trisubstituted cyclopentenes were obtained with excellent enantioselectivity that could be readily converted to functionalized cyclopentenols.
