Observation records host associations of Dendrophthoe falcata with Ficus religiosa, suggesting urban adaptability.
Dendrophthoe falcata (L.f.) Ettingsh. is a widely distributed aerial hemiparasite commonly encountered on woody vegetation in tropical regions. The present communication records its occurrence on Ficus religiosa within the urban setting of Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. The infestation consisted of four to five clumps positioned approximately 9–12 m above ground on mature branches. The canopy-level occurrence indicates successful establishment, likely supported by bird-mediated seed dispersal. This observation adds to host association records and demonstrates the persistence of mistletoes in urban environments. Observed date: 03 April 2026
