A trial trench evaluation was carried out under Scheduled Monument Consent (Case ID: 300072718) ahead of the proposed single house development. The trial trench evaluation comprised the excavation of six trenches across the footprint of the house plot only, excluding the access road. Four trenches were excavated using a mechanical excavator and two further trenches were excavated by hand due to their proximity to the known services. Roman remains were found towards the south-west end of the study area comprising two stone settings and part of a rough cobbled surface with Roman pottery sherds compacted onto the surface of the cobbles. Other archaeology included a pit of likely modern date and a possible later garden feature.
