Background: Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder that markedly disables personal, family, social, educational, and occupational functioning. Aims: The study aims to assess the predictors of family burden of the caregivers of patients with schizophrenia and associate the predictors of family burden with their selected sociodemographic variables. Settings and Design: A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design were adopted for the study. The samples were selected through a purposive sampling technique. Materials and Methods: Structured questionnaire to elicit demographic variables such as age, gender, religion, domicile, marital status, type of family, educational status, and occupation. The Burden Assessment Schedule was used to assess the family burden among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia. Discussion: Analysis revealed that the majority of the caregivers of patients with schizophrenia had severe level of family burden 46 (76.6%) and 14 (23.4%) had moderate level of family burden, none of them had low and mild level family burden Conclusion: The study highlights the significant determinants of family burden among caregivers of patients with schizophrenia and emphasizes the need for supportive interventions.
