Assessment examines archaeological potential in a college site, indicating minimal prehistoric remains and notable WWII relics.
Trawls of HER, NHLE, HE Archive, online cartographic and other historic sources. There is little potential for Prehistoric to Medieval archaeology to survive on the Project Site. There is little in the surrounding landscape to imply its presence and the site has been substantially built upon in the 20th century. Post-Medieval and WWII archaeology have been identified in the southern area of the Project Site and may survive beneath the current hard standing for the car park. Construction of new three-storey buildings on site would be partly intervisible with a small number of designated assets in the local area, notably 83 and 84 Southtown Road. However, setting makes a minimal contribution to the significance of these assets.
