We examine the effect of evolution on determinations of the density parameter from the distribution of galaxies in flux-redshift space. Our model separates galaxies into two classes, ellipticals and spirals, with different star formation histories, and includes a crude estimate of luminosity evolution due to accretion of satellite galaxies. We find that the recent determination of the density parameter OMEGA₀_ by Loh and Spillar is uncertain by at least DELTAOMEGA = +/-1.
