Review article explores AI technologies for real-time air pollution monitoring, indicating improvements in air quality assessment.
Air pollution monitoring is a process of measuring ambient air pollution levels in an environment to indicate the air quality status. It is a long-standing practice whose important is substantiated in our day-to-day life. Air pollution monitoring started from old approaches to a more sophisticated computer-based system of monitoring air quality. Since fresh ambient air is necessary for human health, various technologies have been used to provide a real time data on air quality. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an important approach to detecting and tracking air pollution. The use of an AI approach has been described in several literature, where there is a user-friendly system available for monitoring air quality in real time. The aim of this review article is to explore AI approaches and their deployment in the air pollution assessment and monitoring. Artificial Intelligence approaches that include system architecture, method of data acquisition, application and detection circuit development allows collected air pollution data to be delivered to users through a web portal in real time. The effectiveness of AI approaches in air pollution monitoring has been evaluated through practical trials. These trials utilize system architecture, data acquisition methods, and circuit development to deliver real-time air pollution data to users through a web portal. AI-based systems have improved the efficiency, reliability, and user-friendliness of air pollution monitoring, providing up-to-date information on air quality.
