This paper discusses core Islamic ethical concepts articulated by researchers from media and communication and other disciplines -particularly justice, truth telling, transparency and public interest -and explores their implications for the ethics of fact-checking by developing a framework of Islamic ethics for the fact-checking practice. This study advances the application of a significant non-Western ethical paradigm and adds to the body of knowledge on the ethics of fact-checking, both of which are crucial to media ethics scholarship.
