Evaluates efficacy of percutaneous MWA on lesion recurrence in patients with hepatic cystic echinococcosis, implying safety and effectiveness in real-world settings.
Percutaneous MWA achieved 100% technical success across all WHO-IWGE CE stages. No major complications occurred; mean postoperative hospital stay was 5 days. Local lesion progression occurred in 9.1% of lesions; 3-year RFS reached 64.2%. Age >55 years, cyst 11 cm, and elevated bilirubin independently predict recurrence. Hierarchical risk models (C-index 0.788-0.928)yielded 100% vs. 51-59% 3year RFS.
