Grinding fluids used in grinding processes serve cooling and lubrication purposes, but the current practice involves excessive fluid usage due to uncertainty regarding the optimal amount. To optimize grinding fluid flow rates, we attempted direct observation of the fluid state within the contact arc using visible light. This report presents a simplified model of the grinding wheel pores. A model was fabricated using a 3D printer, photographed, and the effect of the light incidence angle and pore shape on the imaging results of the grinding fluid present within the pores was examined.
