Web application empowers citizens by monitoring air quality and facilitating legal actions, suggesting social accountability.
Air Justice is a full-stack web application designed to empower citizens against air pollution through legal action. The system integrates real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring using geolocation, automated legal compliance analysis against four Indian environmental frameworks (National Green Tribunal Act 2010, CPCB National Standards 2020, WHO Air Quality Guidelines 2021, and Article 21 of the Constitution of India), personalized health impact assessment including cigarette-equivalent exposure metrics, an AI-powered chatbot using Google Gemini API, an interactive pollution source map, and a complete citizen complaint filing and tracking system with auto-generated official email drafts to regulatory authorities (NGT, CPCB, State PCB, MoEFCC). Built on Next.js 14 frontend, Python backend, and SQLite database. Each complaint is assigned a unique tracking ID and persisted in the database for status monitoring. This paper presents the system architecture, key modules, comparative analysis against existing platforms (Sameer, AQI India, IQAir), implementation details, and results from functional testing across major Indian cities.
