In the dry quenching of coke, the efficiency of dust capture directly determines the life of the waste heat boiler and has great influence on the overall operational stability of the system. In the present work, widely used methods of dust capture and their operating principles in the dry quenching system are reviewed. The configuration of the primary treatment cyclone is optimized by modeling. On that basis, a highly efficient dust capture technology for the dry quenching system is proposed. Practical experience shows that the efficiency of dust capture by the primary treatment cyclone is 93.88%. That eliminates the rupture of boiler tubes on account of abrasive wear and extends the life of the waste heat boiler.
