This study investigates the protective effects of a 9:1 mixture of green tea seed extract and leaf extract (TSL) against alcohol-induced gastric damage in a rat model.Alcohol consumption is known to irritate the gastric mucosa, leading to inflammation and tissue damage.Green tea seed extract has been shown to have gastroprotective properties, and EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) in the leaf extract further enhances these effects.The study found that TSL treatment reduced the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, increased the expression of antioxidant enzymes, and enhanced mucus secretion, all of which contributed to reduced gastric damage.Histopathological analysis revealed improved gastric tissue integrity with less inflammation and damage in the TSLtreated rats compared to the untreated ones.These results suggest that combining green tea seed and leaf extracts enhances their protective effects, making TSL a promising candidate for food additives or medicinal treatments aimed at preventing or treating gastric diseases such as gastritis and ulcers caused by alcohol consumption.
