Demonstrates improved control in wind-PV plants, indicating enhanced regulatory accuracy.
To address the challenges of significant active power fluctuations and low tracking accuracy in integrated wind-photovoltaic (PV) power plants, this study proposes a novel control strategy leveraging the rapid response and high adjustment precision of PV systems for real-time compensation. The strategy first calculates the maximum achievable active power output at the plant level. This theoretical power is then processed using an adaptive low-pass-filter algorithm to enhance the confidence level of the maximum power estimation and mitigate plant-wide active power fluctuations. Furthermore, the command calculation module is optimized to allocate generation commands between wind and PV units based on grid dispatch instructions and their real-time operational status. By issuing and dynamically adjusting these command values, the strategy achieves precise tracking of dispatch instructions at the plant level. Field tests conducted at a wind-PV power plant demonstrate that, compared to conventional control strategies, the proposed approach significantly improves regulation accuracy, effectively suppresses active power fluctuations, and exhibits broad application potential. • A novel control strategy combining loss feedforward and PV compensation is proposed for wind-PV plants. • Adaptive low-pass filtering and moving averaging are compared to mitigate wind-PV generation uncertainties. • Strategy stability is analyzed, with control effectiveness validated via field tests on a wind-PV plant.
