Abstract As wind turbine towers grow taller and more powerful, tower design faces challenges in transportation, erection, and structural performance. To address these issues, modular and segmented towers with improved connection systems have emerged. This study reviews traditional and emerging tower connection technologies and introduces the Self‐Erecting Tower (SeT), employing an innovative method to link panels. A scaled‐down specimen of SeT's module was tested under tensile loading. Results show that SeT connections provide high axial load‐bearing capacity and reliable module linkage, highlighting their potential as a practical, efficient, and cost‐effective solution for segmented wind turbine towers.
