India's higher education system is at a pivotal point as it navigates swift technological advancements, shifting labour market needs, and extensive policy changes. The concept of future-ready higher education platforms has become increasingly significant, with institutions turning to digital infrastructures, blended learning models, and learner-focused ecosystems to maintain quality, accessibility, and relevance of education. This study explores the rise and impact of future-ready higher education platforms in India, particularly in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Employing a descriptive and analytical research approach based on secondary data, this study assesses national digital initiatives, institutional platforms, and policy frameworks that facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and governance. The results indicate that although India has made notable strides in enhancing access and flexibility through digital platforms, ongoing challenges such as digital inequality, faculty preparedness, quality assurance, and learner engagement continue to hinder the outcomes. This study suggests a conceptual framework for future-ready higher-education platforms and provides policy and institutional recommendations to bolster India's higher-education system in line with global standards.
