Investigates astigmatism type's impact on visual acuity loss in pseudophakic eyes, suggesting implications for treatment choices.
PURPOSE: To investigate how the configuration of residual astigmatism, defined by the location of Sturm's conoid, affects visual acuity loss in pseudophakic eyes, and to compare scalar and vector-based defocus equivalents as predictors. METHODS: . RESULTS: yielded a slightly steeper overall slope (0.250 logMAR/D, R² = 0.83) but did not change the ranking of astigmatism types. CONCLUSION: but did not change the ranking of astigmatism types. In eyes with moderate residual cylinder, compound astigmatism caused the largest and simple astigmatism the smallest VAL per dioptre of defocus.
