Demonstrates enhanced ether formation in arylsilanes and arylboronates, indicating improved chemical reactions.
A copper-catalyzed electrophilic etherification of arylsilanes with acetal-based peroxides has been developed to form the corresponding aromatic ethers. The key to success relies on design of the aforementioned engineered peroxides, which enables the more efficient C–O coupling, compared to the traditional simple peroxides. The umpolung, electrophilic etherification strategy is also applicable to the arylboronates beyond the arylsilanes.
