Excavations reveal dense occupation and burial practices in Late Neolithic Western Syria, indicating cultural aspects.
During the 2010 excavations at the Late Neolithic site of Shir near Hama in Western Syria a rather dense occupation of non-standardised buildings was exposed, dating to the last third of the 7th millennium BC. The final phase of use is defined by a burial ground. Remains of a living quarter were found in the vicinity of the large storage complex to the northeast.
