Study designed a wideband circularly polarized reflectarray, demonstrating significant efficiency in wave reflection.
In this work, we detail the design and experimental validation of a wideband circularly polarized dielectric reflectarray. The array consists of asymmetric L‐shaped unit cells designed using a low‐loss WavePro dielectric material. The unit cell creates a 180 phase offset between the two orthogonal linear components of the element. This anisotropy enables the unit cell to reflect co‐polarized incident CP waves with a geometric phase when the element is rotated by while suppressing cross‐polarized waves. As a result, the unit cell can achieve full 0–360 phase coverage by sequentially rotating it from 0–180. The reflectarray measurements showed a peak gain of 30 dB at 21.5 GHz, with a 3 dB axial‐ratio bandwidth 25% (21.5–26.5 GHz). The design also achieves an aperture efficiency of 16%.
