Archaeometric analysis reveals local clay use and thermal behaviour in Uruk pottery, indicating indigenous production.
The archaeometric analysis of pottery from Uruk resulted in very homogeneous local clays used from the Late Uruk to the Parthian period with little but significant differences in their thermal behaviour. Clay bullae of the Late Uruk period were produced from local clay as well and therefore cannot be imported from Elam.
