Archaeological investigation uncovers early human occupation in Tayma, indicating cultural development over time.
For a long time, the beginnings of human occupation in the North-West-Arabian oasis of Tayma remained unknown. Recently found flint arrowheads suggest that the occupation started as early as the Late Neolithic period. In Chalcolithic/Early Bronze Age periods Tayma flourished as a carnelian bead production centre and numerous dumps of bead workshops and flint drills are spread all over the oasis.
