This randomized trial analyzes digital strategies to enhance supply chain resilience in multinational contexts, indicating optimal recovery approaches.
Purpose This paper analyzes optimal strategies for enhancing supply chain resilience through digital empowerment, providing theoretical references for supply chain participants or managers. It contributes to improving the ability of multinational supply chains to respond to risk events of varying severity. Design/methodology/approach This paper examines supply chain resilience enhancement through digital empowerment, focusing on multinational supply chains comprising domestic manufacturers, host-country retailers, and consumers. We develop a game model integrating centralized and decentralized decision-making processes, employ backward induction to derive equilibrium solutions, and identify optimal strategies for improving supply chain resilience in a digitally empowered context. Findings The results indicate that digital empowerment strategies to enhance the resilience of multinational supply chains may involve either centralized or decentralized decision-making, with the choice being influenced by factors such as import tariff rates, risk levels, and the probability of supply chain disruptions. Equilibrium pricing, recovery timelines for supply chain interruptions, and profit margins for all stakeholders in multinational supply chains are determined by the interplay between market demand and supply capacity. Originality/value This paper contributes to the literature on strategies for enhancing multinational supply chains resilience from the perspective of supply chain disruption recovery, demonstrating originality in both research methodology and thematic focus. Second, by comprehensively analyzing the impact of key factors on supply chain resilience, the study provides new insights for leveraging digital empowerment to strengthen supply chain resilience.
