Evaluates survival signals in glioblastoma, suggesting context-dependent gene relationships are critical.
Structured gene expression dispersion was evaluated as a survival stratification metric across TCGA cancer cohorts. While coefficient of variation (CV) computed over high-variance genes significantly stratifies glioblastoma (GBM) survival, this signal fails under random gene selection, permutation-based structure destruction (Δ correlation = 0.1686), and cross-cancer generalization. These results demonstrate that prognostic information arises from structured gene–gene relationships rather than variance magnitude alone and that such signals are context-dependent.
