Experiment shows metallic reflection in polyaniline under pressure, indicating unique optical properties.
A compressed pellet of polyaniline emeraldine base (PANI-EB) shows copper metallic reflection color. Infrared absorption spectroscopy for the PANI-EB compressed pellet revealed no chemical structure change upon applied pressure. A stamp technique for the PANI-EB with a diffraction grating in preparation of the pellet exhibits surface periodic structure. The PANI-EB grating thus prepared shows laser diffraction.
