Investigates scatter in strong-lensing efficiency and X-ray temperature, suggesting structural and environmental drivers.
AbstractWe investigate the origin of scatter in the relation between strong-lensing efficiency andX-ray temperature in galaxy clusters. We model the Einstein radius as a power-law functionof temperature and analyze residuals. We find that these residuals are strongly correlatedwith halo concentration and X-ray morphological indicators tracing dynamical state. A simpleempirical model reduces the scatter from ∼ 0.13 dex to ∼ 0.06 dex, with correlation coefficientr ≈ 0.89 and reduced chi-square χ2red ≈ 1.2. These results suggest that a significant fraction ofthe variance is driven by structural and environmental effects, extending similar dependenciespreviously identified at galaxy scales.
