Abstract The 2025 release of the 11th edition of the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course by the American College of Surgeons represents a transition to a physiology-driven care model. Key highlights include the new xABCDE algorithm prioritizing control of exsanguinating haemorrhage, context-based airway management techniques, balanced resuscitation with early 1:1:1 blood component therapy, and established protocols to prevent secondary brain injury. The edition also addresses special populations, such as geriatric trauma patients and logical considerations in trauma with pregnancy. Emphasizing evidence-based medicine, this overhaul incorporates advanced diagnostic tools like point-of-care ultrasound and promotes enhanced team dynamics and trauma-informed communication.
