Cancer is a disease that can affect all types of living beings and may develop in almost any organ of the body. A common feature of many cancers is the formation of abnormal growths such as nodules or tumours in the tissues of origin. While some infections present early through noticeable symptoms, not all tumours are cancerous. Certain cancers are associated with specific occupations, habits, customs, and lifestyle practices. Preventive measures and treatment options, including surgery and exposure to ionizing radiation, are well established. Adequate nutrition is essential for normal growth and development. Malnutrition, resulting from deficiency, excess, or imbalance of nutrients, adversely affects physical, physiological, mental, and emotional well-being. Under-nutrition increases susceptibility to diseases and lowers body resistance, while over-nutrition results from excessive intake of calories, vitamins, or minerals. Thus, both cancer and nutritional status are closely linked to socio-personal and economic conditions of individuals.
