The Moroccan building and public works sector occupies a strategic position in the economy and contributed regularly to nearly 6% of national GDP and is playing an important role in job creation and infrastructure modernization. Furthermore, Morocco is committed to modernizing and digitize its built heritage especially with the high investments linked to upcoming major events. In this context, technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Twins (DT) appear to be major levers to improve this transition. This research analyses the opportunities and barriers to the adoption of BIM-based digital twins in Morocco, based on a review of the literature and qualitative interviews with industry stakeholders. The study highlights the need for a national strategic framework that promotes the standardization, the training, and the digital governance to make BIM and digital twins a pillar of sustainable transformation in the Moroccan's construction industry.
