Aim: This study investigates the extent to which employees of Jordanian electronic newspapers possess the future skills required to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in journalism. Method: A descriptive survey approach was employed, encompassing the full population of Jordanian electronic newspapers and news websites (132 outlets as of early 2025). Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to representatives of these institutions. Key Results: Findings indicate a growing interest in AI technologies across Jordanian digital newsrooms, with 54.2% of outlets already employing AI tools. The mean score for future skills that administrations consider essential for staff development reached 3.71, reflecting a strong awareness of their importance. In contrast, the mean score for graduates’ possession of these skills was 2.83, revealing a relatively low level of preparedness. The mean scores for challenges in training (2.69) and proposed solutions (3.09) suggest moderate awareness of the need for practical interventions. The shortage of specialized competencies in managing AI ranked as the foremost challenge, followed by apprehensions about its impact on traditional journalism roles. Limited financial resources were perceived as the least critical obstacle. Conclusions: AI integration in Jordanian electronic journalism is advancing but remains hindered by insufficient specialized expertise and institutional capacity. Recommendations: The study calls for a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework to guide AI adoption in journalism, increased financial and technical investment, curricular reforms in media education to include AI competencies, and national initiatives promoting the ethical and responsible use of AI in the media sector. الهدف: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف مدى امتلاك العاملين في الصحف الإلكترونية الأردنية للمهارات المستقبلية اللازمة لتبني تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي في العمل الصحفي. المنهج: اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي بأسلوب المسح الشامل لجميع الصحف والمواقع الإخبارية الإلكترونية الأردنية، والبالغ عددها مئة واثنتين وثلاثين صحيفة وموقعًا مع بداية عام 2025. جُمعت البيانات باستخدام استبانة منظمة وُزعت على ممثلي هذه المؤسسات الإعلامية. أهم النتائج: كشفت النتائج عن تنامٍ ملحوظ في اهتمام الصحف الإلكترونية الأردنية بتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي، حيث تبين أن أكثر من نصفها يستخدم هذه التقنيات بالفعل. وأظهرت الدراسة أن إدارات الصحف تدرك بدرجة عالية أهمية المهارات المستقبلية اللازمة لتطوير الكوادر البشرية، في حين جاءت جاهزية خريجي كليات الإعلام في هذا المجال محدودة نسبيًا. كما أظهرت النتائج أن التحديات التي تواجه المؤسسات الصحفية في تدريب كوادرها وتأهيلها ما تزال قائمة، وأن مستوى الوعي بضرورة تبني حلول عملية لتجاوزها لا يزال متوسطًا. وتمثلت أبرز هذه التحديات في نقص الكفاءات المتخصصة القادرة على إدارة تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي، تلتها المخاوف من تأثير هذه التقنيات على الوظائف الصحفية التقليدية، في حين عُدّت محدودية التمويل من أقلّ التحديات أهمية. الاستنتاجات: يتقدم توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي في الصحافة الإلكترونية الأردنية بخطوات إيجابية، غير أنّه يواجه عقبات مرتبطة بضعف التأهيل المهني ونقص الخبرات التقنية الداعمة. التوصيات: توصي الدراسة بإنشاء إطار قانوني وتنظيمي شامل يدعم دمج تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي في العمل الصحفي، وتوفير موارد مالية وتقنية كافية، وتطوير المناهج الجامعية لتضمين مهارات الذكاء الاصطناعي، إلى جانب تعزيز الاستخدام الأخلاقي والمسؤول لهذه التقنيات ضمن المؤسسات الإعلامية الوطنية.
