Retrospective review finds low patient engagement in STI screening among doxy PEP users, implying a need for improvement.
In our retrospective review, there were 186 patients who received a doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy PEP) prescription with 56% missing at least one quarterly STI screening visit. Of attended visits, 63% received guideline-recommended multisite STI screenings. As doxy PEP use grows, improving patient engagement is essential to ensure long-term effectiveness.
