Formal compensation models can be a valuable tool in building a strong academic pathology department. A good compensation model can increase staff satisfaction and academic productivity. A critical element to developing a well-accepted model is that the model emphasizes the core values and priorities of the department. It also examines the impact that the salary model has had at MGH in the 4 years since it was rolled out.
