Study shows pain control in De Quervain’s disease after open and endoscopic release, indicating both methods are effective.
INTRODUCTION: This study compares outcomes of open vs. single-portal endoscopic release in De Quervain's disease, focusing on functional results and complications. METHODS: = 29). Demographic data, preoperative evaluations and hand dominance were recorded. Postoperative functional outcomes were assessed using a visual analogue pain scale, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand score, Mayo wrist score, and grip and pinch strength. RESULTS: = 0.072). CONCLUSIONS: Both open and endoscopic release De Quervain's syndrome produce good results in terms of pain control and functional capacity. Although classical open release is commonly used, the endoscopic-assisted method, which requires experience and learning, can be performed through a smaller incision. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III.
